Hold a food drive
Holding a food drive to support the food bank is a great way for a neighborhood, school or other group to come together.
Helpful hints for holding a food drive
Bring your group or neighborhood together to help GHP FISH serve local residents facing food insecurity. Here are some tips to make it easy and successful:
Let us know about your drive. Email info@ghpfish.org or call 253-858-6179 or so we can plan for your delivery and answer any questions.
Notify your organization’s leadership and enlist enthusiastic volunteers.
Spread the word through posters, fliers, newsletters, social media etc. We can provide a current logo and terms of use, plus PDFs for colorful printable posters complete with a QR code for online donations.
For a current list of most-needed items, go to the Donate Food page on this website. Feel free to focus on a specific item or items you would like to collect, such as socks, gloves, diapers, PB & J, or holiday food items. Or just remind people that we can use virtually all non-perishable foods, toiletries and hygiene items.
Place a brightly labeled collection box in a convenient spot, with a poster that has the QR code for cash donations. We can provide collection bins if you like.
Deliver the collected food to our Food Bank loading dock at 4303 Burnham Dr., Gig Harbor during open hours. If it’s a large donation, please call ahead so we have volunteers ready to help unload. If delivery is difficult, please contact us to arrange pickup.
Thank your donors and congratulate yourself for helping GHP FISH help our neighbors facing food insecurity.
Here are some ideas for projects
Launch a food drive with your neighborhood, business or club.
Hold a family or neighborhood garage sale to benefit the food bank.
Hold a clothing drive or a new sock drive in your neighborhood.
Have your garden club, book club or other club take a themed food collection. Pick a theme, "comfort" for example, and collect canned soups, stuffing mix, mac & cheese, etc.
For holidays or celebrations, consider donations to GHP FISH in lieu of, or along with, gifts.
