In 2017, Ryder Murphy was the youngest rider to finish the Seattle-To-Portland (STP) bike ride. Hosted by Cascade Bike Club, STP is a nationally-renowned annual event held every July that attracts upwards of 10,000 participants and traverses 204 miles. Ryder was just 7 years old and rode a child-sized Specialized Hot Rock bicycle with 20" wheels and six gears. This year, he plans to do it again...but, his mission is even greater

Ryder wants his cycling adventures to be more than just a personal accomplishment. He wants to make a difference. Ryder believes everyone should have enough food, especially kids and their families. "I want to use my abilities to serve others. I'm a kid...but kids can help!"

During STP July 2018, Ryder partnered with GHP FISH and dedicated his ride to raise awareness and money for kids and families in the Peninsula community. Ryder wants to share that, as a community, everyone can make a difference in the lives of their neighbors.

8 year old Ryder has been recognized as a SPIRIT 105.3 "Superstar Kid".

Ryder comes fro a family of avid bicyclists, so it's no surprise that when Ryder was just 2 1/2 years old, he rode 14 miles on his own tricycle. Now at the age of 8, Ryder has accomplished the amazing feat from is own two wheels, of completing the annual STP Bike Seattle to Portland. He was able to raise over $3000 to support GHP FISH in Gig Harbor and help feed so many people.

Ryder is a great example that no matter your age, you can make a big difference. We are proud to honor him as a Super Star Kid.

SPIRIT 105.3's "SPIRIT of Seattle-Superstar Kid" campaign is a program that recognizes kids for their efforts to faithfully and selflessly serve others in our community with joy and excellence each and every day.
